This beautiful split level Rammed Earth home set on 37 acres of beautiful land evolved from a hand sketch contributed by the owners. A very positive collaboration between the client and our designer formed the basis of this outstanding project.
Predominant views were South-West which conflicted best practice North facing aspect. This was addressed by North facing highlight windows, high value insulation methods, a West facing verandah and pergola. The home features multiple split levels, polished concrete, raked ceilings, automatic highlight windows, timber stacker doors and structural rammed earth panels.
The indoor / outdoor aspect is facilitated by a large viewing deck at the front and a double sided fireplace in the 6.2 metre high rammed earth chimney. From the rear yard placement of the glass ensures beautiful views over the valley even when prevailing winds make the rear courtyard the best entertaining option.
The home includes off-grid features such as an Envirocycle sewerage system connecting grey water to gardens, 100,000 litre rainwater storage pumped into the home via a commercial filter, bottled gas appliances, Solar ready r/c air-conditioning, solar hot water, LED down lights, etc. Structural posts are recycled wharf timbers and steps and bench tops are recycled Jarrah.
